Whoopi Goldberg is an American Hollywood actress born in New York City on November 13, 1955.

Her birth name is Caryn Elaine Johnson.

Goldberg’s career began in the 1980s with comedy.

In 1984, she performed on Broadway where she became popular after her one-woman show.

Goldberg has won several awards including an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in “Ghost” in 1991.

She also has two Golden Globe Awards, two Daytime Emmy Awards, a Grammy Award, a Tony Award, and a Kennedy Center Honor.

This makes her one of the few American entertainers to have attained EGOT, which is an acronym for those who have won all four major American entertainment awards including an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and a Tony award.

She has starred in many movies including “The Color Purple” (1985), “Sister Act” (1992), “The Lion King” (1994), and “How Stella Got Her Groove Back” (1998).

She’s also acted in TV series such as “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” “The Muppets,” and “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.”

Goldberg was the host of the television show, “The View” from 2007 to 2021.

Having been married three times already, her most recent marriage was to Lyle Trachtenberg, which lasted from 1994 to 1995.

Her net worth is currently estimated to be $60 million.

She currently has a daughter named Alexandrea Martin.

Goldberg Whoopi is noted for being the first black woman to win an Academy Award in 50 years and also the first woman to host the Academy Awards ceremony in 1994.
