Here are our 5 top picks for movies shot on the soils of Africa.

5. Queen of Katwe
Coming in 5th place is the Queen of Katwe. This 2018 movie portrays the story of a Ugandan girl (Phiona) who maneuvered her way out of poverty with her skills in the game of chess.
With the support of a coach (Katende), Phiona makes her way to the top as a prolific chess player.
The movie stars world-famous actress Lupita Nyong’o.
It is rated 94% on Rotten Tomatoes and has received many awards both locally and internationally.

4. Lionheart
Lionheart is a 2018 drama written and directed by Genevieve Nnaji.
It details the unrelenting desire of the daughter (Adaeze, played by Nnaji) of a business manganate who hopes to substitute her father in a world characterised by patriarchy.

Coming in second position is Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
This action-filled sequel from Marvel Studios grossed a whopping $859.2 million at the Box Office worldwide.

Beasts of No Nation details the horrific tale of child soldiers in Africa. Written and directed by Cari Fukunaga, the setting of the movie, though not specified in the movie, is Ghana.
It features A-list British actor, Idris Elba, who plays the Commandant of a rebel group and Abraham Attah, a young Ghanaian boy who made his debut in the world of movies with his sensational acting as a child soldier
